This Privacy Policy explains how PeakScreen Mobile Testing LLC collects, uses, stores, shares and protects information when a customer visits our phone intake counter, uses our website, receives a device screening, or asks us to prepare a condition report, a fleet audit or a data wipe verification certificate. PeakScreen Testing built this counter so that every device is graded against a written test card and every result is signed, and the same care applies to the records that surround that work. This document is written in plain language on purpose. We would rather a customer understand exactly what we do with the details they hand us than hide those details behind dense wording.
The policy covers the counter at 5285 S 2800 W APT 1A in Roy, Utah, the services offered through it, and every page on the website. It applies to visitors, walk-in customers, business clients and any person whose device passes across our bench. By using the website or bringing a device to the counter, you confirm that you have read this policy and that you accept the practices it describes. If you do not accept these practices, please do not use the website and do not leave a device with the counter team.
Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to everything the counter team does with information in the course of running the intake service. That includes information gathered online, information written on an intake slip, diagnostic output read from a device, condition notes recorded during a screening, battery figures, panel grades, fleet audit entries and wipe verification records. It also covers the way we answer messages that arrive by email, telephone or the contact form.
The policy does not cover the practices of any third party that we do not control, such as a manufacturer support desk, a resale marketplace, a recycling partner or a payment processor. When a customer chooses to involve such a party, that party applies its own privacy rules, and we encourage customers to read those rules before sharing information with those parties.
Where a business client has signed a separate written agreement with us that addresses privacy matters in more detail, the terms of that agreement apply to the extent they differ from this policy. In every other case, this policy governs.
Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to identify a customer, identify a device, perform the requested screening and hand back a signed record. The categories below describe what that means in practice.
Contact details. Name, email address, telephone number and, where a report must be mailed, a postal address. For walk-in work this is usually a name and a phone number written on the intake slip. For booked work it may include a fuller set of contact details supplied by message.
Device identity details. Model name, storage size, colour, serial number or another device identifier, and the account state that a diagnostic might display. These details are what let a later record point to one specific unit rather than an anonymous handset.
Service details. The service requested, any concern the customer wants checked, and any notes a technician writes during the visit. For a fleet audit this includes the list of devices and the department or person each device was assigned to, where the client provides that mapping.
Diagnostic and condition findings. Battery capacity figures, charge curve observations, panel grades, port inspection notes, water contact history and similar measurements. These findings form the body of the report and certificate we issue.
Website information. When a visitor uses the website, our hosting environment may log standard technical details such as the browser type, the pages viewed, the general region from which the request came and the date and time of the request. The contact form prepares a message in the visitor email program, so the content of that message reaches us only when the visitor chooses to send it.
Device Data and Diagnostic Findings
A phone that comes to the counter carries personal content: photos, messages, notes, saved accounts and application data. Our services are designed so that we do not need to open that content. A battery check reads a system figure. A panel grade uses a touch grid on the display. A port check inspects a connector. None of those steps requires us to browse private files, and the counter team is instructed to avoid opening personal content during routine work.
There are narrow cases where a device needs more attention. If a customer asks us to confirm that a wipe completed, we verify the device state and capture the identity of the unit, but we do not review what was on the device before the wipe. If a diagnostic prompts for an account and the customer unlocks the device for that purpose, the technician completes the requested step and moves on without exploring beyond it. If a customer asks us to check a specific application problem, we look only at what that request requires.
We do not copy personal content from a device unless a customer has explicitly asked us to do so in writing and the task cannot be completed any other way. In the rare event that such a copy is requested, the copy is deleted once the task is finished and the customer has received the result. Findings that we record in a report are limited to condition, performance and identity facts, never private content.
How We Use Information
We use information to deliver the services a customer asks for and to keep a reliable record of what was found. A screening needs contact details to return the device and the result. A trade-in report needs condition notes so the signed sheet means something. A fleet audit needs the device mapping so a manager can act on the recommendations. A wipe certificate needs the device identity so it refers to a specific unit.
We also use information to operate the counter as a business. That includes scheduling intake appointments, answering questions, keeping records tidy, matching a later inquiry to an earlier visit, and improving the way our test cards are written. We may use aggregated, non-identifying summaries, such as the number of devices screened in a period without any personal detail attached, to understand demand and plan the bench.
We do not sell personal information. We do not rent contact lists. We do not use customer contact details to send marketing messages the customer did not ask to receive. If we ever send a service update, it is because a customer requested it or because the message is necessary to complete work already in progress.
Why We Are Allowed to Process Information
Different legal systems describe the reasons for processing information in different ways, and we have tried to write this section so it reads sensibly to any reader regardless of where a customer is located.
To perform an agreed service. Most of what we do is processing that is necessary to deliver the screening, report, audit or certificate a customer has asked for. Without the device identity and contact details, the service cannot be completed or handed back.
To meet a legal duty. Some records must be kept and produced because the law requires it, for example certain business records or responses to a lawful request. When that duty applies, we process the minimum information needed to satisfy it.
To pursue a legitimate interest. We have a reasonable interest in running a functioning counter, protecting the bench and its records, preventing misuse of our services and keeping accurate accounts. We weigh that interest against the rights of the customer and limit the processing to what is proportionate.
With consent. Where a step is optional, such as copying content at a customer request or sending a requested update, we rely on the choice the customer has made. A customer may withdraw that choice at any time, and we will stop the optional processing that depended on it.
Service Providers and Vendors
Running a counter that issues signed records means relying on a small number of specialist vendors. Our website is served by a hosting provider. Our email reaches us through a mail provider. Scheduling and record keeping may use common business tools. Each vendor sees only the information needed for its function.
We choose vendors with care and expect them to apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. We do not authorise a vendor to use information for its own independent purposes, and where a vendor offers settings that limit data use we select the more protective option. If a vendor relationship ends, we take reasonable steps to ensure that information held by that vendor is returned or removed.
A customer who prefers that a report be delivered in a particular way, or who would rather not have a name shared with a scheduling tool, may tell us and we will work within that preference wherever the service allows.
How Long We Keep Records
We keep records only as long as they serve a purpose. A screening slip or report is generally kept for a reasonable period so that a later question can be answered from the same source, usually matching the period during which a customer might reasonably ask us to confirm what was found. Fleet audit records are kept for the period agreed with the client or for the standard retention period where no separate agreement exists.
Wipe verification records are kept so that a certificate can be reissued or confirmed if a partner or buyer asks later. Because these records support an auditable trail, they may be kept for a longer period than an ordinary screening slip, but they contain identity and status facts rather than private device content.
When a retention period ends, we delete the record or remove the details that could identify a person. Where deletion is impractical for a technical reason, we isolate the record so that it is no longer used and is removed at the next opportunity.
How We Protect Information
We apply safeguards suited to the kind of information we hold. Physical records stay at the counter and are not left in the open. Digital records are held in accounts that are protected by strong passwords and, where available, additional verification. Access is limited to team members who need it to do the work.
Because our work involves devices, we also protect the bench itself. Devices in our care are kept in the intake area, logged on the intake slip, and released only to the person entitled to collect them. We do not leave devices unattended in public areas, and we do not transport devices without a record of where they went.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a security incident affects information we hold, we will act to contain it, investigate what happened, and notify affected parties and any relevant authority as required by law.
Your Choices and Rights
You have meaningful control over the information you share with the counter. You may choose which service to request, how much contact detail to provide, and whether a report is delivered to you or to a party you name. You may ask questions about how a particular finding will be recorded before you agree to the work.
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights over the information we hold, such as the right to know what we have collected, the right to receive a copy, the right to ask for correction of an error, and the right to ask us to delete information that is no longer needed. You may also object to certain processing or ask us to limit it. We will not treat you unfairly for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, contact us using the details at the top of this page. We will confirm what we need to verify your identity and then respond within the time the applicable law allows.
Access, Correction and Deletion Requests
A request to access your information should name the device or the visit it concerns, so that we can locate the correct record without searching unrelated files. If you do not know the date of the visit, a device model and an approximate month is usually enough to find the right slip.
A correction request should describe the detail that is wrong and the detail that is correct. Because many of our records are measurements, a correction usually means fixing a transcription error rather than changing a reading, and we may explain what was measured if that helps resolve the question.
A deletion request is handled by removing the information that is not needed for an active purpose. Some records may be kept where a legal duty or an outstanding device-collection matter requires it, and in that case we will explain why the record is retained and for how long. We will not keep information merely because deletion is inconvenient.
Privacy for Children
Our services are intended for adults and for businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under the age required for consent in the relevant location, and we do not direct the website at children. A device brought in by a young person should be handled by a parent or guardian who can provide consent and receive the report.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child without proper consent, we will take reasonable steps to remove that information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information to the counter may contact us using the details at the top of this page and we will look into it promptly.
Business and Fleet Client Data
When a business asks us to audit a fleet of devices, the information we handle is often about company property and about staff assignments. We treat that information as confidential to the client. The audit report goes to the contact the client names, and we do not disclose the contents to individual staff members unless the client asks us to.
We limit the assignment detail we record to what the audit needs, such as a department code or an asset tag rather than a full personal profile. If a client asks us to map devices to named individuals, we will record that mapping only because the client has asked for it, and we will keep it within the same confidential channel as the rest of the report.
A business client is responsible for telling its own staff how device assignment data is used and for obtaining any consent that the client relationship requires. We are happy to answer questions from a client about how we handle that data so the client can meet its own obligations.
Visitors Outside the United States
Our counter is in Roy, Utah, in the United States, and our records are held in the United States. If you are visiting the website or arranging a service from outside the United States, you understand that information will be handled in the United States, where privacy rules may differ from the rules in your location.
Where a customer is located in a region with specific requirements, we will work within those requirements as far as our small operation allows, including by limiting what we collect and by responding to valid requests. If a cross-border question is important to you, please raise it before you leave a device with the counter so we can address it directly.
Links to Other Sites
The website may point to other resources, such as a manufacturer support page or a recycling programme. Those sites are operated by other parties, and we do not control their content or their privacy practices. A link does not mean we endorse those practices.
If you follow a link and share information on another site, that site applies its own rules. We encourage you to read the privacy notice of any site before you provide personal details there. Our policy ends where another site begins.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, our tools or the law. When we make a material change, we will update the date shown with the document and, where the change is significant, we will make the change visible on the website so that returning customers can see it.
We encourage customers to review this policy from time to time. Continued use of the website or continued use of the counter service after an update means that you accept the revised policy. If you do not accept a revised policy, you may stop using the service and ask us about the records that relate to a past visit.
How to Contact Us
Questions about this policy, and requests about the information we hold, are welcome. The quickest route is email, and the counter team also answers telephone inquiries during business hours.
